Basic and Dynamic Hand Splinting Workshops

The workshops will focus on the clinical knowledge and practical application of bespoke hand splints, ensuring that therapists are competent and confident in fabricating a range of thermoplastic static splints.

The workshops are interactive and centred around case studies. Delegates will have the opportunity to fabricate their own splints under the direction of an accredited hand therapist, whilst also having the opportunity to try a selection of different thermoplastic materials.

The training includes:

• Basic hand anatomy

• The principles of splinting

• Introduction to thermoplastic materials

• Pattern design, fabrication of splints & strapping

• Clinical reasoning and wearing regimes

• Volar hand splint - practical

• Wrist support - practical
